82 Bronce Engine help

I have a 1982 Ford Bronco with a 302 5.0L V8 engine.
I have replaced the Electronic Ignition module, spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, distributor and coil.
The Bronco was running (although not that well) before replacing the distributor, not it runs for only like 10min then turns off (it doesn't sound as if the rpm are bottoming out, it sounds just like turning off the vehicle) and will not start again until it is completely cool.
During this time the Coil will get very hot as well.
Anyone have any idea whats wrong with it?

Are you absolutely certain that the replacement ignition module is the exact same as the one it replaced? The old Durapsark modules were incredibly specific as to just what engine, model, year, transmission they were programmed to run. I spent a week trying to get an 81 Crown Vic running only to discover that I was working on a "California" car which made the module a completely different animal. Finally swapped in a module for the same car, year, engine for "original sale in CA" and the stupid thing turned over and ran like a sewing machine.

Yes, There are 3 modules for the engine, their denoted my the color of the wire connector (yellow, brown, or blue) and I replaced it with the same one that it had (in this case Blue).

And the IGNITION wire IS to the "I" on the coil, right? bazzawkwards would cause issues...

Could be a bad module right out of the box...not too uncommon. Cuz that sounds an awful lot like a bad ignition module...gets hot, then dies...let it cool and it'll fire up again.

So true- those suckers were VERY problem-prone. Just like a Chrysler Ballast resister- Good idea to always keep a spare, lol... had 3 in my old 460 before I found a good one. In fact it seems MOST of ford's modules seem to be problematic for about a 15 year span in there... but that's for another thread. I gotta head out to the Motorhome and see what color it's using- Cuz I seem to recall that 460 using the blue one...

Yep, and they had no provision within the programming to compensate for timing variances as the engine aged. So an older engine with a bit more chain slack and a bit of wear won't run as well even with a brand new module.
