78 f100 custom

so this weekend im getting a 78 f100 with a rebuilt 302 c6 auto trans, what i wanna do is put about a 3 inch suspension lift but im having troubles trying to figure out what size tires i want, im deployed so a friend is the one picking it up for me so actually seeing it in person cant happen right now im kinda lookin for opinions, and maybe some pics and ideas if anyone can help on that. im also thinking of doing some body work on it nothing major and maybe for a long term project a new engine i want a big block but am having trouble what i want im thinking a 390 or a 351 also opinions are helpful. ill try and get a couple pictures posted. thanks a lot for the help

Well, I assume its 2wd? If so with a 3 inch lift, I would run some 33x12.5x15 tires. Some slots or chrome wagon wheels would look good in my opinion.

As for going big block, You would have to get a diff tranny for that. why not put some bolt on power on the 302?

Good deal man, 73-79 Ford is never a bad decision. A 100 with a 3" lift, I think 33's would look good...35's will fit but you'll probably have a little rubbing. A 390 is a decent engine, but it'll take some time and parts to get it to fit and you'll need a new trans. A 351W and 351C (not the 351M) will bolt right up.

Good luck with your purchase. Thanks for your service and stay safe.

For example... headers, dual exhaust, aluminum edelbrock or holley intake, 4 barrel carb, super coil, performance wires.

yeah its 2wd sorry forgot to put that, the problem might come into the rear tires its got the tire well in the back so im not sure if ill have to cut it so it wont rub but 33s is what i was thinking about, and as far as the engine it was more of a pike dream somethin that if i did decide to do it would be a real long term project, but i didnt think about putting the bolt power on the 302 i might look into that also weigh my options a little more. and yes i agree about the 70s trucks in general my dream was to have a 70s f100 happy i found one in good shape, i used to have a 84 f350 duelly that thing was a beast, had a big block 460 haha

The front tire clearance will be a problem waaaay before the rears, so you won't have to worry about any trimming.
