We are getting some problems out of the NAPA gold oil filters for the 6.0. They're a one piece construction, and they have a tendency to get stuck in the cap and not coming out. This will cause you the added cost for an oil filter cap ($87). It pays to stay with motorcraft.

Good info there Vince.

I am not sure about current production, but i know that originally the NAPA Gold oil filters for the 6.0 were the WIX "will fit" copies. I thought that Donaldson had successfully sued WIX an everyone else for patent violations.

That being said it definitely pays to open the box and make sure the filter inside is an OEM Donaldson unit. I know Motorcraft, Fram, IH & i believe Purlator are all made by Donaldson. But check inside the box as there may still be old stock of the "will fit" units on the shelves.

Thanks for the info!

I've been using Fram CH9549 filters. I believe they are licensed by Racor and seem to fit perfectly.
