6.0 Lower valve cover gaskets?

Recently found out apparently there are 2 different valve cover gaskets.. im curious to know.. how hard is it to change the lower valve cover gaskets??? like what all is involved in this? im use to just having one.. but friends have been saying it seems like my persistent leak on the truck is coming from the lower gasket...

I'm assuming that you're talking about the rocker box seal (between the aluminum rocker box and the cast iron head). Its an o-ring that will require you to pull head bolts. Seldom will these leak. I would believe more on the glow plug harness leaking. If you try to change them, buy new ones, they will break.

could be.. cant say for sure but probably... they were saying theres a small valve cover that sits on top where the FICM sits.. then a lower one under another cover that bolts to the head.

i can only see the driver side from underneath.. but the leak that keeps running down here seems persistent.. ive have the valve cover gasket done twice and assuming they only did the upper one maybe??

Post #38 shows the glow plug harness on the driver side just above the exhaust manifold.

did see that... is there really a special tool needed for removing the plug boots?? heard theyre prone to breaking if you dont use one..

Theyll break even with the tool. That's why I say be prepared to buy new ones. You can remove the valve covers and push them out from the inside (probably have to remove the oil rail too).

stuck the phone down in where it could see what i thinks the glow plug.. hope thats what that is.. cuz didnt look like the other pics people had..

so does that look more like the VCG or glow plug leakin?

lol ohh im sure that will be true... burned my arm with the soldering iron today... went to adjust positions.. wasnt watching where the iron was... *HISSS* #&$*%Y^@&$&%$^%*@
