360 rebuild

This coming Monday I will be pulling my 360 out of my 1971 f100 for a complete rebuild, its is my first time rebuilding a motor, but not my first time tearing one apart ha, So any advices for this process would be nice. I would like to have it done by mid May but ya never know

Will post pictures as so as possible
Thanks, Lennox in AZ

Cool. :)

You're "first V8 rebuild" will be an FE too? :)
What all are you wanting to do yourself?
Pick out a cam already? :)

-------------------

I haven't taken the 390FE apart yet.
Took the valve covers off tho and found all the valve stems lined up straight
as anything. :) Jerry thought the valves were bad but I think is was stuck
and stinking rings, since the excessive smoke problem cleared up at one point.

Well, I came across a fully rebuilt 390, bored .060 over, for a decent price, so rebuilding a 360 is out of the picture now.The 390 came with a c6, Im wondering if that will just bolt right in to my 71 f100,the original motor was a 360 with an NP435.

The drive shaft might not match up with the C6.
(sorry, don't know nuthin about automatics, and don't want to neither ;)

So why not keep the NP435? :)
The 390FE will bolt right up to the 360FE's old bellhousing. :)

Pulled your 360 yet? :)
What's the flywheel look like?
Ring gear look good?
You got a dial indicator? :)

I will never go back to a manual.

Agreed, keep the 435! Those slushboxes aren't all their cracked up to be. I've even put them where they never came (my 69 Bronco has one, tough as hell).
