No you'll have to find a 4x4 trans from behind a 5.0, 4.9, or 5.8...

Otherwise won't work..

Are you planning to keep it fuel injected? If so you'll have to find a 4x4 trans ECU for a 5.0 or 5.8...

If going carb'd the. You'll need a c6 4x4 trans..

Or if you can find a 5 speed 4x4 trans from behind the same engines you will be good also..

Ok appriciate it. And im goin carb the motor is out of mercry capri. Will a fuel inj. Trans still work on a carbed motor and would it bolt rite to transfer case or would an adapter still be needed?

Welcome to FTF, I moved your thread to the Ranger forum where you might get more responses.

A fuel injection trans will work with a carb. A mechanical AOD will need the throttle valve cable adapted to the carb, or a constant pressure valve body. Electronic autos would require a stand alone trans computer.

In order to use your 2wd trans, you have a couple of options. If you want the t-case married, the trans will have to be disassembled, and the appropriate 4x4 output shaft and factory 4x4 extension housing will have to be installed. If you want to use your 2wd trans as is you can find a divorce mount t-case and build a mount for it. The issue with this is whether or not you have enough rear drive line length.

I`m not familiar with the trans to t-case hook-up on Rangers, but I do know that F-series 2-speed married t-cases from the 70`s up until 96 (maybe even later, I cant say for sure) all use the same bolt pattern and spline count. What this means is you can take a NP 205 from say, a 78, and put it behind a 96 E4OD. Or vice versa.

If it was mine, I would get a 4x4 trans and t-case from an F-series truck and put that in. Provided the F-series t-case will fit between the frame rails. If you want some measurements for an F-series aluminum t-case to see if it will work, let me know.

Sorry my mistake just the trans was out of the truck. And I found it on craigd list and that a ll he said. But I live in centralia il. And on the other note Id rather just have it married I dont have the skill set to tear one apart and switch all that but I do have it to do any mods to the frame and etc. To make whatever that will fit to work.
And I just to thank for the input it helps a great deal

To expand, the 351m trans could be made to work if you get a bell housing for a 300, or 302/351w. If your danger Ranger has a manual trans already, than I would try to find a bell housing out of an 84-87 F-series with a hydraulic clutch, and adapt that. I don`t know if this will all clear the floor, but hey, it`s worth a shot.
