The 4.8 is the smallest, but it doesn't have variable displacement, or offer an available 6-spd Auto, so it actually comes in a little lower than the 5.3 in the mileage sweepstakes. Other than Fleet, you never see the 4.8 in anyone's inventory.

Thats probably why I had never heard of it. We have a few 1500's at work with the 5.3 and 2 2500's with the 6.0.
