1997 F250 LD - 5sp man tranny

Old but not dead yet
My truck has 175K miles and the manual transmission syncros are going, its difficult to find 1st and 3rd gear. Already replaced the preasure plate/clutch, master/slave, throwout bearing. I would like to replace the original 5sp with a 6sp, add a supercharger, headers and exhaust. I have a 4.6L 2WD(runs well just want to soup up the old work truck, don't want to buy new) - If anyone has tried this what obstacles did you encounter (other than having to add forged pistons, new rods & bearings and possibly a new crank)?

finding a 4.6 supercharger used to be the tough part but they are becoming available. and the headers and exhaust is the O2 sensor placement and catalytic convertors. as the computer needs very precise readings from those to run right. other than this the only issue i can see is maybe the 6 possibly being bigger causing you to need a new trans crossmember and mount and possible shifter placement inside the cab may be different.

Most trannys are men!

The problem with your transmission might be low fluid level. They take ATF, about 3 1/2 qts.

Tranny is full

Yeah, the transmission is full. The only thing that was different when I changed the clutch was the pilot bushing. The old bushing has bearings the new one is a solid brass bushing. I don't know if this makes any difference.
