1995 Ford f250 idle issues

I have the 460 engine, when you start it, it will sometimes shut right back off, sometimes idle very erratically, sometimes idle fine for a little bit and then idle erratically. You can drive down the road just fine, until you come to a stop.

The check engine light is not on
I have replaced the IAC

Please help me as i am completely stumped

even if there is no check engine light, you can still store a code. Scanning for a dtc would be a good start.

Is it possible the IAC was bad going bad for awhile, cause it has been gradually acting up for 4 or 5 months, and the result is carbon built up in the egr system.

I took the truck to the local ford dealer, and after 2 days and 200 dollars, they said it would require extensive research to find problem.

Here is the thing, i have full custody of my 4 children, I raise them on my own, i have a great job and make decent money but after food and child care and school stuff, i am broke, the 200 dollars has already wiped me out.

Is there anyone that might have a suggestion for me. I have found that sometimes it will start, idle for about 5 seconds perfect, then die. Also if you start, hit about half throttle, it will stay running, but surge and run rough. I tried switching to the rear tank, which the gauge says is full, but i get nothing.

I dont know what is going on, please, can someone help.

It is possible the egr is stuck open alittle. You could remove it and look inside should be able to tell. Seems you shouldn't pay a penny unless they can tell you whats wrong with it. I'd feel bad taking your money with no answers.! Where are you from? If your close enough bring it up here to me..

I wish i could bring it to ya, i am at the lower end of new york.. I havent had a chance to play with it. I am gonna check the egr system when i get a chance.

This truck has 2 gas tanks, could there be something screwy going on there. I only ask because if the ford garage had it on there computer and still cant tell me whats wrong, then its got to be something easy to fix, and most likely out of the ordinary.
