Have the steering column panels off and the dash panels off and can see what looks like the switch on the bottom of the sterring column, but was told that the switch is on the top of the steering col with automatics.
Yeah, on the top of the column theres a rod from the actual key and tumblers. It ends in a "peg" sticking up. The switch fits down over that "peg". Reach up there and you can feel the switch. If I remember right, its held down with a couple of 5/16 screws. The switch is adjustable. Now, just to confuse the snot out of you, at the "key side" of that rod, theres a linkage that connects the rod to the keyswitch. That linkage can and will break causing your symptoms. If you remove the electronic switch (the one over the "peg") feel for the rod when turning the key (it should move). If not, that linkage is broken.Have the steering column panels off and the dash panels off and can see what looks like the switch on the bottom of the sterring column, but was told that the switch is on the top of the steering col with automatics.
You might be lucky, and find that those 5/16 screws are loose.before I do, I wanted to tell you that after I took the Paneling off I had to move the truck so I jumped the solenoid and then turned the truck off. After I moved it I went and linked the solenoid back up. Just for laughs I went to start her and she fired right up, and continues to do so. I still want to figure out what the heck is going on though.
