1989 F-350 Crew Cab 4x4 1 ton XLT

I am currently looking at this pick up from a private seller. Here are some specs. It has a little less than 50,000 miles on the origional engine. The body and interior appear to be in very good shape. It has a 460 gasoline engine in it. 6" lift, good tires, and it is a 5 speed manual transmission. It has a heavy duty transfer case and Dana 80s axles. I have always owned Ford trucks but nothing quite this old. I guess it just caught my attention and I really like it. I was just hoping to get some reviews on this pickup from anyone who might have owned one or knows of someone who owns one. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Also I am not really sure how much a pickup like this is worth so any info on that would be helpful as well. Thanks in advance for any help.

Should be a Dana 60 up front and a Sterling 10.25 in back, I believe. I'd be curious as to what a 'heavy duty transfer case' is too. I'd want to know the components of the 6" lift (ie body, blocks, shackles, springs, etc). Is the engine a gasser (5.8 or 460) or diesel. If those things don't check out, I'd be weary of the 50k original miles. If they do check out depending on your area, you could be talking a $5,000 truck on up to a $10,000 truck.

He did mention it's a 460, which is a really great motor in terms of reliability. It's terrible on fuel, and it doesn't have quite as much power as you think a 460 should, but it's very reliable.

Reading comprehension be good...in that case..I can't remember if that's a 5 or 6 digit odometer. If it's a 5 digit, seeing as crew cabs and 460's are typically synonymous with 'work truck'...I'd bet the engine is closer to 150-250k given it's age, unless the owner can provide some sort of proof. If it's 6 digit, you're good, and you have a nice find...at that age, and only 50k, you'll wanna check for gasket and seal leaks. You can usually gauge if it's 50...150 or 250k by wear on the pedals.

89 would be a 5 digit odo. Pedals, door handles/grips, and door thresholds are good indicators of wear.
