Oshkosh trucks are just about the toughest on the planet. When Oshkosh designed and built the Hemmt series for the government, after filling the orders, it about went bankrupt, due to the trucks not breaking and needing many spares. The old HET 10tons were built by Oshkosh and were retired and not replaced, I guess nothing else on the market was able to claim to be a heavy equipment transport. The M916A1 Line haul trucks (built by freightshaker) used many components from the Hemmt. Mainly the transmission, transfer case and front diffenential. They also featured the debut of the new detriot 60 series. Cat and Cummins moaned a sigh of relief when the U.S. Govt, killed the 60 series from 10mpg to 4.5.
