My Ex had 175,000 trouble free miles when I traded her in last month. All it had was routine maintaince, Batteries, Alternator, FICM, one sensor, and in the shop for an oil leak.I hated to see it go but I needed a truck. The ex wouldnt pull a goosneck or 5th wheel.

I did the upgrade on the Ex when I had a slight fuel leak. The local dealership had it in stock with the gasket (which is what I really needed.)Upgrade took me about 2 hours in my driveway.I could feel the difference in throtle response immediatly.
What kind of prices would I be looking at? I know it would need oil and egr cooler. While we was there I would want gaskets and studs. I would probably want to replace the injectors. I can supply them. I would want higher flow injectors.Down time isn't a problem. I can drive my jeep untill it...

I know I can fix this myself. I'm leaning toward pulling the engine. If I do I will replace the oil cooler, delete the egr cooler, have the heads checked and re worked, oem gaskets, ARP studs, new degass bottle, New oil pumps, new water pump, rod and main bearings, injectors, possibly new turbo.
I have 168,000 miles on the Ex. It has started puking and I hear a tea kettle sound. I beleive it is the EGR cooler.It started after I towed my new tractor. 47 hp tractor on 18' trailer. Probably around 12K.It had very little Puking. I have since driven 700 miles from Louisiana to Oklahoma...
Thanks. I'm going to take in to the shop asap. Do I need to take it to the dealer or a tranny shop? I trust my tranny shop more than the local dealers. I'll check codes tomorrow with my sct tuner. The Ex isn't tuned. 165,000 miles. I dont want to pop the head gaskets.
