Are you sure you have your advance hooked up to the right port on the carb? It sounds like its hooked to manifold vacuum instead of the "timed" vacuum. There should be no vac to the distributor at idle.
I had a 68 250 4spd 4.10 gears. I put a 390 together for it, stock longblock, cast iron 4bbl ford dual plane intake. I called Berry Cam from lester praire mn. He sold me on a 390 X-GRIND. They developed it back in the 70s for CO-OP trucks with spray rigs in them. Its a torque type cam. So in 4th...
So finally got some time to work on the ole'79 again. Mom passed away this March and while sorting through all her things we did find Dad had kept the original keys for it with the ford key tag on it. With mom's passing and all the secrets she hid it has kind of taken off as a tribute to both of...

That temp gauge is pegged and its due to the cluster regulator beat the dash lightly with a fist and sometimes they go back to normal.
Or your sender shorted out.
Ok first off I just joined this forum, and figured its a good place to document the progress my brother and I make on our Dad's old 79 F-250.The story, my Dad bought a 79 250 4x4 Custom Camper Special back in 85 with 110,000 miles on it, the 400 was long gone and a 429 filled the empty space...
It's my first post but somebody is on to the right lead, because you instrument cluster voltage regulator is on the fritz, happens in my 84 from time to time. The regulator is changing voltage causing both the oil and temp gauges to read higher then normal, I bet if you pay attention I bet your...
