Not sure what part of the country you're in but the Nokians I have on the CRV are awesome!
Rain and snow....no problem. Last winter was the first year I ventured out when we had snow/ice, this Feb I crossed the pass and zinged by 4X4's.
Highly recommend them~
Matt...knowing everything we know about this truck it will be the $700.So guys...just exactly how many more things are going to go wrong with this truck? Isn't there a Ford limit or something???
he didn't mention any grease leaks....Mark, if I didn't have the Ranger to sell and fund this...I would have parked that sucker long ago, or back to the blowing it up and selling tickets.hmmm...that option is still on the table.
ah..you speak his language. He said best / worst case and something about inside outside...I asked best /worst case in $$$
Best would be $300, worst would be $700. At this point I think I was whimpering and he said he'd call when he knew more.
I swear..I almost don't want to post this as it's going to sound like yet again....one.....more.....thing.Since I have faith (knocks on wood) in this mechanic I asked him about a sound I always hear at the 35mph speed. It's kinda like the sound you'd get from a science fiction space movie...
Ya...it's always the high end of the quote.Ran it past the boss asking if he wanted to make the "man call". He mulled it over and said they're dinging me here and here but yeah...that's pretty much what it is. Me I'm thinking...wuss.
Seattle has just now authorized the use of "salt" on our roads. We've fought it and fought it due to the impact it will have on the Puget Sound. Some places are now using pickle brine vs chemical salt.
Just received a call from the shop. It's the torque converter failing. He said a good one runs about $500 and with the labor etc yada yada..my bill will be $1234.78*sigh*
Speedometer has never stopped, no other symptoms that I can tell, but unless you guys mention something I won't know where to look. Will just wait to see what the codes say on Monday.
Bit of an update; drove over to Spokane after work on Friday. Limped into the gas station at Moses Lake (2/3rd of the trip) with it lurching again out of 1st and 2nd. Thought about turning around right then and coming back but figured if it was really going to quit on me cold, I did not want to...
HA!!!!!!!! I knew it!!!!Once again you guys are right, love that =)new shop pulled the tranny pan and state: "It is pristine clean". So, either the old shop messed with it or there is nothing wrong. They are going to go ahead and install a new MLSP-thingy, put on shocks and call it good...
That's it Ryangoing from Park to a gear, big thunking sound and a "buck". Same with shifting while driving. The feeling is like you've been tapped on the rear bumper by another vehicle.Just took the Rancho's down, they're going to go ahead and pull the pan to see if there is metal residue...
ok, just received a call from the new shop. They drove the c**p outta it and can't get it to act up. He doesn't want me to throw money at it until we can figure out what's going on.
Did say it looks like someone's removed the oil pan as it's all shiny clean. Since I walked under the truck while...
My concern is I'm supposed to drive it over the pass (twice) on a 600 mile round trip this weekend.Really need this sucker to be ok. Getting stuck in the middle of wheat country and no phone service. I will be blowing it up~
ahhhh....so no codes will show for the new shop. Hmmm....what should I expect now? Just good old fashioned experience? They did have quite a few Ford trucks around.
new repair shop has the sweetest F250 diesel powerstroke sitting out front for $8900. Dark green and nice interior. You guys have me hooked on these things. I would LOVE to have that truck. If I didn't need the cash, I'd trade the Ranger for it.
Just saw your post CharlieI verbally told them to "just fix it" when I left it yesterday am. I then called after a couple of hours and stated I wanted a quote first. (I'm my own worst enemy). Called again at 5pm and asked for info/pricing. They said they hadn't started on it yet.I did not...
Hey guys...thanks for listening, just alot going on right now.So, I followed my gut, picked up the truck this am, they repeatedly stated they hadn't done any work on it. So I drove it on the freeway (55+), down into the valley with lots of stoplights etc.Did not lurch once! Not one single...
yeah..you're right Roy.I sat here and tried to figure out what about the shop was bothering me. The fact that it IS, is something I need to listen to.So, I'm going up to the shop tomorrow am, taking the truck out before they tear it apart. I've just got a bad feeling and I can't shake it...
