  1. Sending unit testing

Mistaken on all current passing thru the ammeter, its a shunt, current is measured off of the extra length of wire wrapped up into the loom between the alt/harness. Actual draw is measured off of that. The guage is less than reliable as stated. A few "other" manufacturers did it that way, very...
  2. rear defrost

I also think occasionally the high wire going to the heater blower comes off (did on mine, twice) then you only have medium. Now my heater will blow a piece of paper around on the floor when on def/heat, and will blow your eyeballs dry in no time on hi/low. Really puts out the air. Also make...
  3. rear defrost

A block heater will get the coolant warm before you start the truck. Mine's on a timer to come on about 2 hours before I leave in the morning.
  4. 60F PN interchange.

Thank you sooooooo much, the Dana website has a gap between B.O.M numbers which of course would contain my B.O.M., so I couldn't get any PN's to cross ref from there. I was at a total loss. Now I hope these spindles aren't made out of unobtainium. THANK YOU!
  5. 60F PN interchange.

This axle is under a crew cab, I believe it to be the original axle. The tag bolted thru the inspection cover using two bolts has: the ratio, 4:10 andD6TS AD 603664 2Cast into the webbing on the upper left of the diff housing is:C36912Cast into the webbing on the lower right of the...
  6. 60F PN interchange.

I have one of the 76-77, low pinion, dual piston caliper, disk brake, Dana 60F front axles and hooped the spindles. Found some on ebay, but not the same PN. My PN: 37944 H2Z78, ebay PN: 38422 or 706553X. The bearings listed by the seller are the same PN as mine, indicating interchangeability...
  7. Hack saw blades have never seen so useful!

I've learned to open my vent wing in about 3 seconds with the dipstick. Locks only keep the stupid thiefs (and me, for 3 seconds) out. Imma have to wire up a kill switch somehow.
  8. My Long Term Project

Sweet, build. Ordering parts makes it mighty hard to keep your hands off of a project, any progress, or pics? I'm very interested in the one piece side windows in particular. While I was building mine, I wanted badly to convert to one piece side glass. It seemed fairly straight forward. The...

  11. Crossover steering conversion write-up?

I dont have a big writeup, but I did it on my 76 highboy, used a 97 Dodge (saginaw) steering box. I learned the best/strongest/cheapest/easiest to get joints were Dodge 1 ton joints, high steer doesn't fit unless the truck is lifted, that leaves inverted T. Used a 91 F-350 center link and voila...
  12. Recap of my biuld.

Thanks guys! Lots of sweet pickemups here, nice fellers too! Since november 25th I've put about 5K on it, it's my sole mode of transport. I haul a 3K pound trailer every day and love this truck! I still have a bunch of stuff to do, like interior, tires, permanent fuel system, paint the hood and...

  15. The next victim to get cut up

I may be the only one here who loves the brown metal flake paint, looks perfect with dog dish hubcaps, and some stock size mud tires. Rust kills too many trucks, I'm crying on my keyboard.

I think its pretty awesome! Love the rat rods.
  21. Still Overheating

Hope it all works out for you. Sounds like you have a handle on it.
  22. Still Overheating

You would do well to install a bypass type filter, it will filter a percentage of your coolant, eventually filtering all of the fluid, but if it clogs completely the coolant still cools the engine. If you install a mesh, it WILL clog from the sound of it...
