Hey guys. Long time no post.I got a 77 LTD II (i know not a truck) with a 351w that is...iffy. Its sat for many years after it jumped time.Anyways..Im curious...if i bought a junkyard 351w from a later model F series (an EFI version) could i just swap the distributor, intake, manifolds...
Its possible if you have paitence. Wireing will be the biggest issue but you maybe able to do it if you use the harness and ECM from the 460. Youll also need to fab motor mounts and use the 460's tranny. The 460 is about the same as that year 5.4L for HP but the 460 has a tremendous torque...
Hey guys, long time no post but anyways...I got a 97 F250 with the 460 (7.5L) and i have a bad exhaust leak at the drivers side manifold. My mechanic knows he can change it but is worried about destroying the A.I.R/EGR pipes in the process...I know the EGR pipe is easy to come by but the...
Good info!Ok, i did fix the EGR stuff today. The plenum side as well as the valve were totally packed with carbon, i also repaired the pipe, and no more EGR codes...18 is still the only code left. Ill get that green wire fixed properly and go from there.
Truck was running fine but now it seems doggy.Pulled codes, got Code 18 and 33.18 is a continuous memory code "Spout Grounded/IDM fault/no tach signal"33 is a EGR stuck open code. Not super concered with the EGR, thats easy enough to fix...The 18 has me bugged though. Im wondering if...
It does have AC but the compressor is shot and doesnt even have a belt on it.I read the temp sender grounds thru the intake manifold where its screwed in, it had teflon tape on the threads...would that cause these issues?
Hey i dont know your location, or if youre still looking for a good ol work truck, but i got a 77 id let go to a good home. It was my DD past 4 years, all it needs is a brake line to be road worthy again. 77 F250 camper special with a 400/C6 and 2wdOops. Never mind. Just seen your in...
Im gonna have some time tuesday hopefully to look into this further. Im really leaning toward some alternator issue, reason being under full load i noticed the Amp gauge riding just a bit below 1/2, then when unloaded it jumps up kinda high, then settles down, seems they usually stay pretty...
I was wonderin about the VR itself, its internally regulated. Ive never had one fail though so im not sure what the symptoms are, besides battery meltdown.Guess i can hit the battery with a multimeter. How many volts is to much, i know normal is 13-14 with it running.
Hey guys, i used to be around here alot, under my old name "workin rig" askin questions about my old 77 F250....Either way, ive retired the 77 as my daily driver and bought an 87 Ranger. 2.9/5sp/2wd....Im having issues im hoping are electrical related...The temp gauge and oil pressure...
