Some creep hit my truck.

That sucks SO bad Ryan!! I don't understand how a person can just drive off. I drove off once when I was in a hurry, but I left a note under the wiper blade that I'd hit their car, where I hit, how to contact me and my insurance company contact. Man called me and told me not to worry about it as he owned a body shop and it was nothing for him to fix. It didn't scratch his paint, just put a small dent in a panel. Needless to say, his body shop is the only one I visit to this day. He was smart.

I've seen panels that can come off just for the side, but it's welded on. Best way to do it is to cut in a place where you can't see.

You're right though, you can buy the whole bed from a place like LMC trucks for about $700. Not a great investment, but that's if you want to do the whole bed.

Gunner, thats Funny chitt

R, I do believe the box is one piece...

Nope just a lot of spot welds and I mean A LOT of spot welds. When I replaced the corner of my '81 RX7 there was a total of 20 to cut, some were on the underside inside the rear hatch.

This was my first attempt at this kind of project

That looks really good, Eric.

I wish I had the patience or dexterity to be able to do something like that.

Here's the old panel, only thing I did to remove it was to scrape the bondo off and cut it out, the rest of the defects were from the previous owner trying to fix it by pulling it, which seems they got tired and decided to fill it in (bondo was 7/16" thick in a few places).

The split was there after I got the bondo off.

That looks really good to me Eric. YelloThumbUp

I think the one front fender on my 56 has a spot of filler that is over 1/2" thick. I am thankful they just filled the dent rather than trying to fix it though. Easier for me to fix that way.

In the old days if someone injured your horse, they owed you a HORSE... or it was a hangin' offense!

There are plenty of good beds out there looking for a home; Guys have pulled them off to make hay trucks out of them, etc... And the beds can be had for a song, with relatively little rust in them, since they haven't seen much "road" time. Better yet, Get a custom bed on it that'll make the truck look tighter'n YOU....
