78-79 Bronco sliding side window seal

Is anybody throwing away a seal, I need a sample to see if its the same profile as the canopy side window seal.

If it is , I could possibly buy the Bronco seals and have them bonded together at a local rubber place to the correct length to fit my canopy.

You have the two necessary parts catalogs, so...why didn't you look the numbers up, then compare them, instead of typing this hocus pocus?

The OP has been asking me for a coupla months to come up with the part numbers for the sliding window seals for the factory camper shell.

I cannot, my part catalogs are on microfiche, the viewer I'm currently using has less resolution than the Ford viewer, so I cannot make out the basic part numbers for the seals...even w/a magnifying glass.

I just looked up the Bronco seals since I have the 1973/79 car parts catalog on a CD. The whole shebang is a TOTALLY different setup, the seals are Bronco only, are much shorter, will not work.

Illustrated here: 1973/79 Ford Passenger Car Parts Catalog / BODY Illustration Section 290.1 - page 2.

btw: For those unaware: Bronco parts are listed in the car parts catalogs 1966/79.

My thought was , if both seals ( bronco and canopy) are extruded from the same tooling, I could buy 3 bronco seals and make 2 canopy seals.
With the help of a local rubber company with bonding equipment.

But I would need a sample , about a half inch long of the Bronco seal, To see if it matches up to the canopy seal I have.

I would much rather have originals with the groove for the anodized aluminum trim .:)

Where are the sliding rear window parts in these two illustrations? No see 'um.

The only thing shown is 290A66, which are the mouldings, not a weatherstrip.

How about posting these puppies > > Illustration Section 400, Pages 5 & 6. < <

These illustrations show everything...and I mean everything! The whole tamale is an involved process w/myriad basic part numbers for the myriad parts that make up these sliders.

Who cares about Bronco's? The parts will not work!

The OP (and myself) need to see the illustrations from the 1973/79 truck parts catalog of the canopy sliding window parts, the catalog references I just posted.

btw: Where oh where in these Bronco pics you posted, are the sliding window parts? No see um.

If you post all these pics in one post, the OP can see the differences between Bronco/F100/350 canopy slider parts.

And...get your carcass down here, so you can teach me how to do this jazz! That way, you won't have to post all the pics.

My usual rant:

If people that own these old rolling piles of misery would get up off it, spend a few measly bucks for the CD parts catalogs...they wouldn't need to ask for pics.

Prolly 99% of the people that own these old piles have no parts catalogs. Why? It's the FIRST thing they should acquire after buying the pile!

How many members of FTF have any? AFAIK, you, me and Mikeo0o0o0.

When the OP takes a gander of all the parts that make up the canopy slider window w/strips, he'll prolly have apoplexy!

Sure they do. The pics show the differences in the weatherstrips between the Bronco and the factory canopy (camper shell).

Take a gander...compare one with the other.

Once you take a gander, you will see that there is no way...none...on God's green earth...that Bronco parts can be substitued for the canopy parts.

The w/strips are totally different in size, shape and form.

But his question is how the weatherstrip is cut from what I understand. Like what it looks like from the side. I think he knows you can't just substitute it, but if it fits the glass in the same fashion he can have the rubber place bond them together.

Since the Bronco w/strips are totally different, there is no way that they can be used...it's as simple as that.

You cannot take a w/strip that is totally different in size, shape and form and use it as a substitute.

Look at the pics, the differences in the w/strips are as clear as day. Even the basic part numbers are different.

You cannot substitute one for t'other. In two words: Im Possible.

I'm gonna look up and post all the canopy w/strip part numbers...see if anyone has them NOS / And this info will be typed into new thread...that is not Bronco related.
