has anyone paint the non chrome parts of your grill on your truck to match the body? if anyone has you aughta post some pictures to show me how it looks so i can decide if im gonna do this. if nobody has i might just have to go get me another grill to do this on so i can see the difference.

I would but its in west nashville just not worth the money i'd spend on gas and dealing with traffic. I might be able to get a friend of mine that always goes up there to let me hitch a ride with him but idk. but why ya ask?

It's one of my favorite places to go. Prices are so cheap I always come out with more than I planned. Check my thread in Gen 6 forums Road worthy I got my wheels and a few other things cheap.

If you look hard enough you may find one that actually matches your truck already, the thunder series had them painted like that..

and by the way... did your flareside come stock with a 351?... cause they definetly didnt make the standard cab ones with them

Brian why should the trim on the bed make any difference on engine choice? The truck is identical save for the flared bed that they laid on top of the frame rails, no?

It is the same frame wise.. Its just EXTREAMLY rare to see a 351 in a flareside.. most have the 300.. the others normally have 302s.. i havent seen one up close with a 351 yet...

even that jacked up FlareSide in FourWheeler that Flareside thunder showed us had a 302 in it... hmmmmmmm

So perhaps they're rare because people didn't like to spec them that way (for some strange reason). But I can't think of any reason why Ford would limit someone from buying a flareside with a 5.8L.

well you are right. it did not come from the factor with the 351W. It was originally a 302. that motor took a dive at 222k miles. so the previous owner swapped in a 5.8 motor and another E4OD out of a 94 F250. But no Mass Air so its lame. lol jk. but the motor and tranny both had been rebuilt fresh when swapped in.

idk. it is odd. but i do have trouble with the light rear end due to it being so much fiberglass sometimes i have trouble with the rear end hooking up due to the extra torque and horsepower the 351 has. and i even have wider than stock tires. i have 255 70 15's. but my rear tires are almost bald due to this.

the rear is actually Heavier due to it being fiberglass.. fiberglass is heavier than the sheet metal they use.

One upside to the flaresides.. its not often that i have to use 4x4 cause the rear is heavier, plus we never get that notorious wheel well rot in the back!
