Any of you guys use aftermarket starters on these engines?...and what have you used and how have they been?....I'm a bit concerned with the CR I'll have.

Dan...with the extra heat, he'll be frying starters left and right. But as stated, if he does try a stock unit, go motorcraft. After that, I'm not too sure about high end starters...but the one that I linked to seems to be pretty respectable and I'd still advise fabbing up a heat shield.

I've had good luck with Hitachi starters years ago...I'm gonna have to do some investigating.

Damn Duncan...all I have to say is after what you've put into this truck and the upcoming accessories, this build is top notch.

I don't know Tex....I'm using my block that I have here and getting the block machined here...I wouldn't think it would a whole lot more....I did tell Tim about this site, so hopefully he will be along to maybe answer questions.

Thanks Duncan...very cool. Looks like the big money was in the heads and beefing up the components to handle the power.

Mike...pretty sure you can add another 3k on top of that for a turnkey shipped to your door.

Thanks Ben...I tried to copy it, but with my limited old man skills, I couldn't.
I don't think it would be that much Ben...Tim and I talked about it at the beginning and I don't recall it being that much...I think a machined block was about $500...and I wouldn't think that there would be more than 20 hours labor to put it together...I would think another 1800-2000...but don't take this as verbatim...I could be way off....I'm just going of memory of something I didn't pay a lot of attention of.

Yeah D...I was figuring block plus labor=$2500...then shipping 450lbs is probably another 2-500 depending on who ships it.

Hmm, thats kinda high for a turn key, but then again he is the master of the 400 :) and I think it would be well worth it.
