For 1984 -85 300 I6 Carbed..19 Gallon Front and rear tanks
I hadn't heard so much as a whisper of negitive feed back 'bout lmc, was gunna buy a couple of fenders for the ol' red beast from them. (some dip shoved my winch bumper into 'em.) I think I'll be looking elsewere now.
I read thru all these posts, no one has said a word about the fact there are different sending units, because there are plastic and steel tanks. Wheelbase, engine size can also make a difference.Sending units
E5TZ-9275-G
This is the 19 gallon mid-ship sending unit only without EFI.
The aft axle sending unit is different, and there are THREE different types: Wheelbase, steel or plastic tank, engine size all make a difference.
Each of these places have one E5TZ-9275-G

The sending units may be specific to either plastic or steel. I do know that the two steel tank senders are still available from Ford, not sure about the other plastic tank senders.
There are Ford Dealer websites where these parts can be bought at 25-30% off the MSRP.
Where is the part number for the aft axle tank's sending unit? No see um. It is not the same as the mid-ship tank.I looked it up his application in the Ford book and supercede books for alternate numbers.
This means that not only do you need O-S-I catalogs that cover thru at least 1996, but access to Ford's in-house parts locator system to verify part numbers.

The final printing of the 1980/89 Ford Light Truck Parts Catalog occured March 1994.I have all those to 86.
IIRC, aft axle is a - J

This is why you need O-S-I thru 1996, and the locator afterwards.
The OP's friends truck is a 1985 F150 300 I-6 Regular Cab 133" wheelbase.
