    Never messed with the guts of a rear end.The 79 i just bought has a cooked rear in it now (bent axle shaft due to overloading, dont ask), but anyways...The truck now has a 28 spline rear, the replacement he gave me is a 31 spline. I know you cant just swap a 31 spline shaft into a 28 spline...

    Yes, that is 80s TTB, weled togther with a bar to form a solid axle, and stuck in a 79. Someone posted it on a facebook group and asked if it was a good idea (after he did it already)...Doesnt look wise to me.
