You don't need a computer to run a 302 Ford and 5sp. 302s have been around since 1969. I bought a 5.0 from a '95 Mustang, removed the intake and distributor, added a dual plane intake then a 600cfm carb and earlier dist. and drop it in. No computer necessary. My '53 ran fine with that combo.
GeneralitiesI don't see much happening right now. So, I thought, how about I put up a few photos of my '53 F-100. It has been taken apart and now is in the process of installing the IRS from a '96 Tbird. The 4.6 engine and harness is on the floor. I got a great deal on a new set of headers...
OK,, my take. The 53-56 F100s work well with most any engine you choose. I know of one with a 389 Pontiac/hydro. A Buick (nailhead) is a great engine. although relatively expensive and harder to get hop up parts for it. I remember a 55 F100 running a blown Cad engine that ran 150 mph at...
I just wanted to let everyone know that my mind has changed again. Hopefully for the last time (engine wise). I'm back to the 302 AOD setup. It just didn't work out for me. The 4.6 Ford/auto will go into my 1949 Ford sedan. I have a '95 T-Bird IRS for it and am looking at a '04 Crown Vic IFS to...
Maybe so, But I had a friend with a 59 F-250 stake bed, running a 352 granny
4 speed & 4x4. It ran well went up Hwy. 395 and while I don't have mileage figures, I have no memory of it being unacceptable. However I used to have a '58 Ranchero. A 352 running a 4-speed & a 406" Tri-power. It gave...
I agree, A 360 FE is a bad choice, I'd install a a Chevy small block before I would use a 360. I have had two 360s in two different Ford PUs 2 wd & 4wd. They had "sucky" gas mileage, drank oil,and had little power. A 390 is a nice engine. Even a 429 or 460 is better. I will sit back and hide...
:wavey: I'm back & wondering what has been a good, reliable, INEXPENSIVE, car to rob parts from ? Actually, I don't care how expensive the car, just how much the parts cost. I just want a forward hinged hood, not a tilt front end.
I've heard that BMW has one. Buick (mid 80s) has one that...
I'll keep you informed as things happen. Nothing new, just removed the grille & lights & started a cut to allow the fenders to be pulled in at an angle. The procedure lightens the front appearance. I'm thinking about what to use as a front bumper. Maybe two small 'nerf' bars? Or maybe a '29 Ford...
Sorry, I'm not up on metrics without a conversion chart. The original bolt pattern (5 on 5 1/2"), was used by Ford from 1928 thru at least the late 70s or mid 80s. (on Trucks) that is. Passenger cars were the same pattern up to 1948,
and went to 5 on 4 1/2" in 1949 up to around the mid 70s when...
Crager SSs5 x 139? Oh, Metric!! lol. 15" dia. front & rear, 10" wide rear, 7" front. 5 on 4.5" B.C. As for back spacing, I'll have to go measure them. But they are around 3.5" front & 4.5" [+ -] rear.
4.6 wiringYes, it will be 'interesting'. Luckily I know a guy that will 'integrate' the EFI wiring & computer into the new wire kit that I bought. I got the whole engine & trans wiring along with the engine. I will have to get an inline fuel pump & Filter added to the mess. The guy has done...
I'm back with some alterations on my F100. Bed is off, and squared. The 302 is removed. The back panel under the tailgate is welded and preliminary roll pans are welded up with tail light holes cut. I was going to reuse the 302, but I got a deal on a 96 T-Bird 4.6 & decided to get an overdrive...
I'm curious, is it illegal to 'fling' a moose out if the plane is on the ground? and only illegal if the plane is airborn? How about if an automatic opening device is added to the parachute? The questions that arise when discussing a 1959 Ford PU. good luck with it.
I have a 302 FORD in mine. But you know, a :pimp: Chevy engine fits an early Ford so much easier than a Ford. Dratted Oil pump!:hammer: These smilies are fun.
Cult like!!!!!!!!!!! like WHAT???? No "CULT" just people thar "Revere" the 'timeless classics' (like is said on one of those classic car shows on TB).
:guns:
I have a friend that had a 59 4x4 flatbed. It ran a 352 & granny 4 speed. Good old truck. It (the 57-60) is about my second most Favorite Ford. OK, OK THIRD.
Behind the 32-34 Ford & 53-55, with the 57 being the one from that body style. I love the single Headlights in that body. I remembered...
I figure someone may be curious, have I fallen of the edge of the earth (flat earth society) or am stricken with useless hands (or brain).
There's not much change in my truck lately, but I've been gathering pieces for my truck, 49 Ford sedan, and my SPE FED.The SPE is having splices put back in...
Grille removal 101 ana halfNext time you should try using an acetylene torch to cut the bolts out, then the grille will fall on the ground. Quick & easy. Ha! Never mind I'm just full of stupid humor !! LOL an all that.
I had a nice 59 F100,SWB, 6 cyl. It was a very nice truck and I...
