hello all,I have a 78 250 4wd, 6 inch lift, skyjacker drop arm.I believe the arm is shorter in length,(not drop) than the oem and affecting my turning radius. I do not have the OEM and I am a tired of shallow turns to the left. ( i have the same issue on my CJ7)does anyone know of an...
Hello all,I have 6 inch lift and i am using the skyjacker drop arm. I believe it is shorter than the OEM and affecting my turning radius.Does anyone know what the length should be (not drop). I do not have the OEM to compare it to.here is a pic to show what i am talking about, I have...
i called to my local spring shop and he said normally the shorter end will be mounted to the frame and the longer end will be to the shackle.I went ahead and installed that way and now my drag link is to long and i can not adjust it any more. BUT, i have a chevy 1ton set up and not OEM...
Stupid question alert.......1978 f250 4wd.I have possible frame/spring issues with my truck. before they begin yanking on it with a frame machine, which way to the front springs install.I have skyjacker 6 inch springs, skyjacker says the shorter end of the spring should be forward...
correct partI pressed in a new bushing and it is correct.I used a McQuay-Norris SK6530. Perfect fit.now i have another problem,,,, I think i might have a frame issue that has been pushing the axle to the passenger side.
I received the bushings from rock auto yesterday,I hope to cut and shorten the header collector so i can get to the bolt, remove the casting and figure this out.The closer i look at the set up, i am surprised nothing has failed. the bushing is completely gone and the bolt is metal on...
Sorry about that,, I have ten things going at one time.1978 f250 4wd supercab.I ordered the last two sk6530 from rock auto. at 5$ it is ok if it does not fit.My local spring shop pulled the number 4.2130 from energy suspension.
It does not look right from the pics but then again it...
Hello all,I have searched the net, called energy suspension, and bronco graveyard and still can not find a lead for the shackle to frame bushing. My header has cooked the original bushing. I am installing new headers but need to fix this bushing in the process.Does anyone know of a part...
Thank you for the reply,The only number i can find on the existing header is 398 52. I just do not want to purchase new headers only to end up the the same issue.anyone with a 4wd 400 running headers, please chime in.Chris
Sorry,, i forgot to mention that400/c6/f250this is the driver, i fixed it already but the passenger is still touching and with the straightened shackle is is worse. the collector is right at the shackle. A few inches forward and it would not be a problem.
Hello all,I am finishing the correction on my front suspension (saggin spring, bent shackles, etc) and realize one of my bigger problems is my header is touching the shackle. This excessive heat is cooking the bushing. The busing in the frame is toast so i will be replacing both.If anyone...
no to skyjackerI was just going to make a post about my skyjacker failure and saw you post.I installed a 6 inch on my 78 f250 and the driver front has sagged over two inches. This truck might have 2000 miles on it since the install (60k original). it never goes off road. I hauled some...
Hello all,My front shackles are bent and my new skyjacker springs are already sagging (driver side about 1.5 inches) so it is time to pull it all apart a second time. My existing shackles are bent to the side. That said, ORD has upgraded shackle hangers for older chevys and i am...
When I called Elderbrock and asked about the airgap, the man on the phone said they had gaskets to block off the exhaust gas at the head/manifold.At least it is a "dry" intake. A lot easier to R&R. If you pull the intake and weld it, Or try another gasket, can you post your results...
I was concerned about the exhaust gas from the manifold cooking the wood. When you have the OEM EGR plate off you will see what i am talking about. If memory serves me,, I used the original gasket which was sort of thick.I use "air gap" intakes on other builds which eliminates this gas...
It is black walnut, It has been on there for over six months now.Wood has a lot of benefits. Moroso even sells wood spacers.
http://www.moroso.com/catalog/categorydisplay.asp?catcode=32012Cost me zero, took ten minutes to make, no more vapor lock.
triple check your block off plate. not all seal well. There are a lot of post about the plates causing vacuum leaks. I had to make mine.. If the truck has a hesitation when you apply gas the EGR could be bad. You can always pull vacuum on it and test it. There is no harm in leaving it if it...
One last thing,When you rebuilt, make sure the base gasket is correct. Did you add a spacer, are you still running and EGR. There are several post here about the plate and gaskets causing a vacuum leak.Chris
I doubt the pump. Most mechanical pumps work until they begin to leak. The diaphragm will leak and fuel will exit through a small weep hole, or possibly into the engine and contaminate your oil.If the pump is old they are easy enough to change for the security, but I do not think it is your...
If you have it in the budget I highly recommend a stoich meter
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/atm-7175When I built my last motor I installed one.. It takes all of the guessing out of a carb. I increased my power and mileage at the same time.Other than that, in an old carb you could...
my welded blocks are after market and only 2.5 wide. Is the factory block the full width of the spring?Maybe 2.5 is enough but it just looks wrong.Chris
Hello everyone,I know some guys on here are running the skyjacker springs. I need to order 6 inch springs for the rear. Can anyone confirm if they are using the factory 3 inch block when installing the new spring? I called skyjacker and they said I would most likely need it??
Just looking...
I finally squeezed my truck into the garage with deflate stock tires so i have not been driving it. I am going to go through the axles in the next few weeks. The bubbling after shut down is most likely because the small pressure of the pump was increasing the boiling point even at just a few...
