Hey I remember the coffee can on my last 79- anyway, that "ball" does have a crack in it around where the line goes in it, looks like they tried to hot glue it back in but I can easily move it in and out. Son said the other day it actually came out of the defrost like he wanted for a little bit...
Thanks for the tips and the scan - just my luck did not see any of the models that looks like oursWeird thing is that when I manully operate the flaps I still don't get any changes course I am probably missing one somewhere.I am suspicious of another thing though ---- on the drivers side...
Hey folks - anybody got a diagram or anything for the heat/air system, mainly just the fan? The fan in my sins 79 is blowing to beat the band but nothing is coming out the vents, I think the switch is good because it tries to change to the different functions and turns off but nothing comes...
I am thinking that I need to chase the wires- if the float had leaked in some fuel, in theory it would sit lower than the top of the tank / fuel level and when full the gauge would show less than full because it could not get to the top of the tank (right - or if not right at least make sense?)
I was hoping for the quick and easy since "Full" showed "Full" and use made it go down; come to think of it I do remember a time or two that when up to speed the needle kinda "wiggled" around a bit - guess that would lend itself to a ground not making a good connection huh
So - you're saying (as I feared) I have to chase all the wires just like if the sending unit or the gauge was bad? I was dreaming that with as much pressure was on there it might be impacting the floats ability to accurately travel up and down the slide
Hey folks -Looking for ideas (hopefully the easiest) my sons truck is new to us and figuring out the this and that's for it - 79 F150 with 351, the fuel gauge is not accurate.I did the math off the dimensions and seems to be about 17 gallon tank, it was reading less than a 1/4 tank; go to...
But at the same time, found another website that warns against the 23 tooth, especially the white one, as it is supposedly best used with standard transmission and has a history if breakage, possibly should go to the 21 Orange and just figure out the difference
I just remembered something from the other thread, revisited it, clicked around and ended up going to:
http://www.transmissioncenter.org/Ford_Speedometer_Gears.htm
Where I noted that they have a 23 tooth gear that is specifically for use with 4.10 rear endThe only veritable that I am not sure...
Well, had one or two myself, and explaining it that way does make sense- so how about my theory in reverse and go for the most teeth available of the speedo driven gears (since I noted most frequently only 6 options for this generation) seeing that the 4.10.1 is just about as low as you would go...
Okay, let's back the thread up a bit, and think about this in another wayEarlier in the discussion and as I have been seeing there is 6 options for driven gears for the speedo cable, (unless anyone that was ever made will fit and if so this will kill the thought) since this 4.10.1 rear end is...
Thanks for connecting the dots between the two threads ---- I found in the diagram where the tag is supposed to be but found no tag which is why I threw out the other one hoping to catch someone's attention specific to transmissionGoogle provided me a lot of info really quick but not dice on...
Working on some other issues on my son's 79 F150 and was asked what PJA number my tranny was. Can't find such a number, I do find "D50P-7006-AA" (that I have since learned how to decode without finding the answer to the question) and another (possibly correct, hard to read) "C6Z?-70027-A"...
Still working on it- could not find that anywhere on the tranny and have been doing a lot of research (I now know how to decode the "d" number I sent you but does not convert into a pja anything (I am pretty sure it is a c4 now though))Still looking
One more (sorry) after really looking that photo over, in the rear circle, across from the 78, at about the 7 o'clock position, there is either a 6 or a 9 (if you look at the circle in the same orientation you would to view the 78 it would be 6, if literally speaking it would be a 9Again, as...
Just ran my iPhone up in the hole and was able to figure out that in the front circle that I could not see there is a "5" at about the 3 o'clock position(sure will be handy when I figure out how to post a picture)
The 10.5 is one of the numbers from the tire size that was on your list of needed items (31 x 10.50 R 15)I just crawled under the truck, and from the location the diagram indicated I found:
D50P-7006-AAUnder this, there are two circles, the one toward the from is blocked and the top half of...
I have viewed the bottom side of the tranny during the earlier discussions, is the tag your are speaking of top side or to the front or something as I did not note it on the rear portion of the tranny.I got a little lost during some of the other posts, if it helps when I was researching the 95...
I just ran the calculator / converter here on FTF website and it says wit those numbers i gave you the metric conversion should be:267/76 R15Is that more what your looking for?
Follow up on speedometer specificsMil1ion-I have figured out with some confidence that I have a 4.10 rear end (out of 95 lightning per the previous owner and then my web research on the same)The tire size is 31 x 10.50 R 15 LTAutomatic trannyI am a little buffaloed as the...
Yeah,,,,,,, now all I have to do is figure out which of the six gear sizes is the right one. (I guess I am down to 5 guesses since the one that is in there is wrong)Theory would tell me that I would go with the one with the fewest teeth since the rear end is so low it would be turning fewer...
Yes the mechanical system is still in place, leaves tranny, goes up to a box on the drivers fender well under the hood (assume it is the cruise control) then out to the instrument panelIt functions but is WAY off, from what I have learned thus far I need to pull / swap the driven gear at the...
Hey all - this is not my normal generation of truck to hunt in but I have to expand my research a bit to take care if a problem in my 79.I am looking for some support in regards to the rear end that was in 95 lightning, previous owner of my 79 took one and put it in and now I am chasing...
Gentlemen, how very embarrassing - it is amazing how having the thermometer up to a decent temperature, sun shining, and plenty of light improves things.First of all, I traced the wrong cable from the tranny to the wrong location, but with all the above and the diagrams I have figured out that...
Thanks for the pics and the diagram Mil1ion - I looked for hours on the web trying to find those diagrams and never could - where did you get those?????Anyway, your diagrams show what I was kind of expecting to see instead of what I found. If you come out of the speedometer and travel to the...
