This thread is about 6 months late for me. I just scrapped what was left of the supercab donor for my SC. Nobody wanted it!!! I tossed a LOT of stuff and the only taker I could find was a scrapper. The old 390 still ran althought it had a really bad oil leak and it took a case of oil to get it...

Update: The starter was still dragging but not every time. I replaced the positive battery cable in Advanced Auto parking lot and the guy walked out and asked me what was wrong. I told him the starter was staying engaged and he just shrugged and told me I have it installed too close to...

Yeah I pulled a bonehead move and had the ignition and the starter wires swapped on the solenoid. I was about to change the key switch on the cab when I looked at it again and figured out what I had done.Thanks for the reply and letting a bonehead like me hang around!!

Changed the selonoid and starter. It cranks and starts but the starter drags. Any ideas?

I just got home from being stranded. Went to the county line to get some beer and when I got back in the truck it would click and make a faint squealing noise. Solonoid (sp?) right? I'm going to pick up a new one and go swap it out in the morning.

I've always checked the alt by pulling the battery cables while it was running. If the motor died it was a sign that the alt could be bad. It could be the wrong thing to do but it's always worked for me...

I had a 192 in it but on the dummy gauge it showed to be running pretty dang hot so I went to swap and just left it out all together. I hope this weekend to put a 192 in and call it done.

It's acutally shorter than 155" since one of the PO cut it from a long wheel base to be a short wheel base. I don't know that it even measures out the same as a swb SC does. I like the look of it though.

It's got both. The dipstick on the passenger side has a rubber cap on it and I think it has been cut down because I only noticed it a week or two ago after I posted this thread. The dipstick on the drivers side is the one I actually use.

Could it be that the linkage popped out? No stops sounds like it's not connected.By linkage I mean under the hood where the shifter hooks to the linkage that runs down to the tranny.

From some of the stuff the PO's have done to this truck It wouldnt suprise me if they didnt match. I know that it sure feels like it has a higher stall TC in it a lot of times at take off. Guess it could be it's too high geared for the 35's and tired 351m too...

In that case I'll be able to tell what the code it when I get home. I just hope it's correct and the PO didnt swap it for something else.
