There is no rhyme or reason to this but 77's, both auto and manual got the T-case strut (as per the MPC catalog), 73-76 auto's got the strut.....73-76 manuals did not get the strut.
They typically sell for between $1,200-$1,500 in my neck of the woods when equipped with 4.10's, the 3.54's bring the value down slightly but not much, these axles are getting pretty hard to find in certain parts of the country, i'm still waiting to find that rust bucket of a 78/79 with the...
Doesn't sound like the chain jumped a tooth to me, that issue doesn't "self correct" itself, your issue sounds more sporadic in nature, i'd hate to tear into the front end of the motor for nothing, it sounds more electrical in nature to me e.g. ignition coil, module or pickup coil, like Milion...
No i haven't owned my truck since new but i did buy it from the original owner four years ago, he assures me he's never done anything to the wiring and it looks factory and unmolested so i'm prone to believe him.Yes i have a meter. You got "instructions" with your LX-201? all i got was a note...
I believe you but i've tried all the aftermarket modules that are retrofitted with the new 6-wire configuration....
STANDARD #LX201
NIEHOFF #FF401
ECHLIN...
Yes it is the green grommet module Dennis, i'll give that place a call on monday and see if they have the the 7-wire modules, thanks a million, no pun intended :)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Anyone know of a source for the Duraspark I ignition module, it's the 7-wire module used on 74-75's, the Duraspark II went to a 6-wire module from 76 onward, i really don't want to upgrade to DSII if i don't have...
Nice '78 on ebay, not a highboy though, or "hight boy" as he calls it.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1978-HIGHT-BOY-4WD-RANGER-LARIAT-A-C-VERY-NICE-TRUCK_W0QQitemZ270381159269QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item270381159269&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=65%3A-1%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1308
A guy on another forum says he has a '77 highboy w/manual tranny and a factory installed t-case strut, i've never seen one on a manual highboy but apparently they were available with them too if he's correct, maybe it was part of a towing package??? i know when under heavy loading conditions...
I like the look of this rig, also from that "rust free classics" site.JPG"]http://www.rustfreeclassics.com/images/Ford/79F250_Custom_White/79F250_Custom_White%20086%20[800x600].JPG
I asked this about a year ago on another site and just as you said no one really had a clear cut answer, just a lot of guessing, but there has to be a reason behind it i.e. the t-case strut, if i find any info i'll be sure to post it.
This guy always has nice clean original trucks, i get the impression he doesn't "fluff" them up with cheap paint and a wax job just to sell them, they usually appear to be quite original and he actually takes pics of the truck that matter like the undercarriage, suspension, engine, etc. not just...
Some highboy guru out there has to know the answer to this, i consider myself pretty well versed on most things highboy but this one has me stumped, there has to be a practical and/or logical reason for it but i can't think of one.
Someone has to know why these struts only came on the auto highboys and not the manual highboys, i can't find any info through numerous google searchs, if this strut were required at all one would think the NP-435 would need it (to eliminate clutch chatter maybe?) before the C-6 needed it, but...
Craigslist should make it easier to find a certain vehicle, you can type in ford 4x4, ford highboy, ford f250, highboy 4x4, f250 highboy, etc. etc. and EVERY time you get a new result, it just makes it far more complicated then it needs to be, here's a few samples...
It's a regional thing, trucks along the coast will inevitably be ate up with sea salt/spray, those in the inland northwest are more likely to be rust free, it's just a geography thing, some regions in the northwest use salt during winter, others use cinder or gravel, it all depends, every guy...
I wonder if the BBQ grill in the bed comes with this dealhttp://montana.craigslist.org/cto/1101263240.htmlNice truck, not a big fan of the 18" dubs thoughhttp://montana.craigslist.org/cto/1097441930.htmlI'll leave comment to your own discretion for these next two...
