No is a 13.5 liter Deere

That doesn't look like a fun job. I could never be a mechanic... don't have the patience. Especially with all the new computer controlled emissions crap. At least Deere has had pretty good luck for the most part. Last place I worked ran mostly Volvo and good lord... shit would derate regularly over emissions failures

I've heard that about Volvo from several customers now, who have switched to Deere[emoji2]

One of my customers who had Volvo that was always breaking down for emissions crap, had the volvo salesman come down and ask how many times the Deere has gone down since they got it and he was told none, they just wished they would have switched sooner [emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787]

I'm not a fan of cat at all, I fixed their shjt for more than several years. Hell even here I have to cause they can't get the local cat dealer to fix it.

That what you had on when you did this Jake?

It looks like the bus just came in too hot trying to drift that corner, it happens all the time with all these wannabe racers running around. [emoji854]

I actually went for the VGT turbo first, it really sounded like a boost whistle. But couldn't find anything wrong with either turbo yet. The fixed turbo has a bit of play but not contacting the blower housing yet. Put it back together and started looking elsewhere and found the exhaust leak. I'm not 100% positive this is the noise but it could be and needs to be fixed anyways
I HATE trying to nail down something like that. Had a Cummins head gasket fool me for months once. Not fun. I hope you got it whipped.

Gotta start the extraction process of the 3 broken bolts today or go change all the oils and filters in a large asphalt roller. Not sure yet

The service guys(dealership) at the mine here try to make it as far down the road as they can before the mine calls them back to refix the fix. The best guys they have are independents that hang around.

Ya, I always like run it, watch it, or ride along after I'm done. I prefer to watch it. The operator will run it differently than I will and that way I can be certain the problem is fixed. Guys that leave quick, or don't actually fix a problem give us all a bad name and make us work 10 times harder. It really sucks. But I always get requests that I came back to jobs for other problems and get asked all the time if I can work on the other manufacturers equipment too. I always say sure can, but without their tech info it may take a little longer to diagnose. Their response is usually well they've been here several times and can't seem to fix it. Under the cover of darkness, @Longjonsilver arrives. With great care he eases up to the machine, and releases his trained chipmunk with a tiny hammer and chisel. Down the exhaust he goes, a few minutes later he returns, and climbs into Jon's pocket. "That'll drive Doc nuts," Jon thinks to himself, as they slip silently back into the night .......
