I would do the shift kit at the same time personally this way it is covered in with whatever warranty they are giving you on the trans. Adding it later they may charge you more labor and then the added cost of trans. fluid, etc. Probably cheaper now to do it and they can't say later that adding it voided your warranty. But if he is already firming up the shifts maybe just leave it at that if you need to save money.

Yeah I would just ask because if you wind up spending more later to do it then that just gets frustrating lol.

between 1k and 1500..

the 1500 number is gonna be if the gears need replacing also...

so if ya think bout it..

Im in the truck 1000... trans rebuild 1500...

and i've got a solid truck for 2500 with a brand new rebuilt transmission that should way outlast the engine.

Would they be using OEM gears or offshore ones?...reason I ask is I went through this with my C6...aftermarket (aka not OEM) were around $600, OEM ones were double.

if the ones that are in the transmission are still usable.. they'll use em.. if not usable they'll get some aftermarket ones.. not OEM. but not the cheap junk aftermarket ones.

im pretty sure they are.. but a ton of stuff is being replaced...

Normally it is just the wear items they replace..bands, clutches, bearings etc.
Hopefully your gears are good as all the research I did when I got my C6 done was that the aftermarket gears were all the same...which isn't to say they are crap by any means...I just wanted to keep it all Ford.
In fact, my rebuilder had told me that he really doesn't have any callbacks with the non OEM stuff at all, even with 5-600hp engines in front.
