Well, since my last post I have replaced the EGT gauge and installed the new one pre turbo. I have also removed the particulate trap and installed an intercooler. It's pretty common to see 1000 degrees on an incline and that's not towing anything. The turbo is a Garrett 1825818C91 1.10A/B, if...
I was wondering where to locate my alarm. My truck is a 1997 F350, crew cab dually. Pretty sure the alarm is factory, but not positive.
I'd like to know where it is located and where the valet switch is. Also, how do I disable the alarm until I get a new key fob?
Any help would be great.
I have a 1997 Ford crew cab dually, 7.3l with a Banks turbo/stinger and a Banks "calibration chip" installed. The truck seems to run great, but I am concerned about the exhaust temperature, (after the turbo). I was pulling my toy hauler to Bishop CA, very slight grade the whole way, and when I...
Turns out this was a blown tire on the rear inside drivers side. The tread separated, (the vibration), then blew, (the backfire). Guess I didn't check the tires good enough, must have been parked on the blowout. The good news is I know what happened, the bad news is it cost darn near a grand.
It hasn't done it since, but I haven't duplicated the same conditions, (speed, load mainly). Where is this valve you mentioned located? Are there any in line filters I can check. Sorry for my ignorance but this is my first diesel, and I have only owned it about 6 months.
The carrier bearing feels very solid, in fact I think I remember the guy I bought the truck from telling me he just had it replaced. The U-joints look good also.Any other suggestions?
The truck is a 1997 F350 7.3 Crew Cab Dually. Today on my way home, it started feeling like a tire was out of round all of the sudden, like driving on a wash board. It quickly became worse, (within a mile) and as I slowed and was pulling over it became much worse, very violent kind of a...
This truck has a K&N air filter, and recently I've read some not so good posts on them. What is everyone's take on these filters? And more importantly, what other options do I have?
I don't mean to be a pest here, but this diesel newbie has another question. What is the max temp I should keep the exhaust under? Will it climb to the point of melting down pistons or the turbo under a load if not kept in check with the accelerator pedal?
I live in the High Desert of So. Cal. Winter temps at night are sometimes high 20s, low 30s, often between 30 and 40. Once every several years we will get a freak freeze and see teens. Do I need a block heater for my (new to me) 7.3 for any of these times?
I'm sorry. I'm sure this has been asked to death. I did search, really I did.
I just acquired a 97 power stroke 7.3, and was wondering what is the best oil to use. I think the previous owner said he used Delo 15w-40, but I'm not sure he was sure.
I went and got a couple left handed drill bits, and drilled these holes. So far, as usual, the easy out is worthless. I tried the torch a few times, but the Mepp gas will only get it so hot.I'm thinking to keep using the left handed bits, increasing in size until I get to 5/16 and then try...
Sigh. Pulling the heads just isn't in the cards right now.
To correct myself, the broken bolts are both on number 4, and the front one of number 5. The back bolt on 4 and the front bolt on 5 have been broke off for a long time, with no leaks, (no gasket, machined surface).
I am considering...
