I got the water to run clear after flushing twice with VC9, countless gallons of tap water and over 100 gallons of distilled water. All of this after 20,000 miles and 4 years of running the yellow gold. Strange to me, my deltas are 7 to 12 cruising at 65 mph with the cruise set. When I cruise...
Two more flushes today. Dark orange and darker yellow than Ford Gold. Will update later. Currently at 70 gallons of distilled water and countless gallons of tap water for the flush.
I flushed again this morning with 2 quarts of VC9 and distilled water. After driving for a couple of hours with cardboard in front of the radiator [180 to 185 coolant temps] the water I drained came out black. I filled again with distilled water and drove a couple of hours tonight at the same...
I would like to change to Rotella ELC but I am afraid to use the Restore, for fear of needing a new oil cooler, which should be done before the switch. I may start over with the VC9 this weekend. I planned to be through with this before the temps got this cold. I just hate the idea of doing...
I changed the Napa Gold Filter today {4070 I believe}. I have never seen such a rusted mess of a filter, but it was not stopped up. I am retired from Ford Motor Company and have always used Motorcraft parts but I am starting to rethink the Ford Yellow Gold coolant in the 6.0. I have seen...
That is 50 gallons of distilled water in addition to flushing with tap water. When it sits overnight with distilled water in it and I drive it for a while the next day the water darkens to a yellow color.
Knowing what I have reported on this truck, would you use Restore or just go back with the Ford Gold? I don't want to have to replace the cooler at this time. Thanks for your advice and help.
The Gold in my truck had too much "junk" in it when I flushed. It had been in for 4 years [20,000] miles. I use gold in my other 3 Fords without any issues. All of the flushing and chemicals with the Gold are a pain in the butt. At this point, I have used 32 gallons of distilled water and...
I have flushed twice with distilled water at this point. I think it will take a few more to get the distilled water to run clean. Last time it took 12 flushes. I may be pushing it to do this many flushes before the temps turn colder on Monday.Any recomendations for an ELC antifreeze?
Thanks for the reply.I am assuming I should leave coolant filter in place and let the VC9 circulate through it while doing the flush? In your opinion, should I remove the thermostat or leave it in to warm the temps during the flush?
I am debating if I should use the VC9 because I already have a 10 degree delta when running unloaded at 65 mph on flat ground.Previous history is as follows:1-25-09 38,953 miles. Two gallons of antifreeze were replaced when the Ford dealer resealed the High Pressure Pump cover, or so the...
A Ranger that can tow 7700 lbs has a reserved spot in my garage as well as a new Bronco. I hate to say it but I am looking to buy a new Jeep Wranger. Are you listening Ford? I am a Ford retiree.
Has anyone done this repair? My truck started having a rough running condition a few days ago. It now does not want to correct itself and continues to run rough. I parked it today until I can fix the problem. What was your resolution? I know it is the #2 coil wire or pack.
Thanks for the reply. My 01 has a moonroof and does not have a 3 position switch like the back two. Do you have a moonroof? I am not beyond missing the switch on the front map lights but I have not seen one.
Mine has the 5R55E and about half of my 55,000 miles have had a landscape trailer behind it. I don't have any issues but change the ATF with Mobil 1 every 20,000 miles. I would like to find another one with low miles for my daughter but all used ones seem to have a manual transmission. I...
My front interior light/map lights combination does come on when the doors open. The map lights will work independently when switched on. The rear seat and cargo area lights work when the doors open. Does anyone know if the front interior lights are not designed to work in conjuction with the...
Thanks guys. I have been told it will go off in 3 drive cycles but it did not. I had about 8 drive cycles without it clearing. I cleared it and have driven 3 or 4 days without it returning. One thing about this site is I always know I will get an accurate and professional answer.Thanks...
I have a 2001 Escape that threw a code for the IAC after running rough. I replaced the IAC and the engine runs and idles smoothly. After driving the car a few times the CEL has not reset itself. I can clear it with my scanner but would like for it to clear on its own. My daughter will be...
Thanks for your help. I just pulled a 10,000 travel trailer [loaded] to Florida, 500 miles. My EOT briefly went to 225* and the the FWT went to 204. This was only one time on a hill. My normal spread is 7 to 16 degrees with an EOT of around 210*. My ATF temp spiked at 186 in stop and go...
How long does the temp have to run more than 15* to set a DTC? My truck runs on average 11 to 12 degrees different but I have seen it jump to 17* for a split second a couple of times. This is unloaded at 70 mph.
I ran about 3 tanks of gas through the engine and the check engine light was still on. I disconnected the battery to reset the computer last week and the check engine light has not returned. Maybe there was no harm done.
