York to Sanden Compressor

We will Rise Again
I replaced my old York compressor to a Sanden. Everything mounted just fine and charged OK. The AC system doesn't cool like I would like, but does OK. I didn't replace my old condenser or expansion valve. I may end up doing that later on to see if that makes a difference in cooling better.

What was the issue with the York?

I always heard the sanden/sankyo and in the GMs, the Delphi compressors had lower hp requirements than the old York & others. Quite a noticeable difference I guess.

Wasn't aware of that...but in my own case , if I lose a few hp, I'll still be cleaning GM clocks :D

My york was bad anyway. Compared to the York I have in my 77, the Sanden doesn't have near the drag as the York on the motor. Another plus is its not very big and does free up some room and much lighter.
