Which engine 302 or 352 carb?

When i got this truck the guy sold the 352 and bought 302 out of 71 ford torino. My question is should stick with the 302 or try to find the another 352 and sell the 302? The 302 still needs a intake manifold. The truck is manual trany "C" type which is 3speed column shift. The 352 is what its supposed to be.

If the engine is good and if it only needs an intake I would put it in. Unless of course you are looking to go back to the original size engine.

Well would like to go back to 352 if I could find one still. My buddy wants me to stick with the 302 carb for the better gas mileage. Could care less about gas mileage since this wont be a daily driver anyways. I dont know if the 302 carb is good or needs rebuilt or not.

I think a mild 352 would be cool. Then again...parts are more expensive aren't they? There's also a large following for the 302 wisdom and performance wise.

Perches towers same differnce. Youll also need either a bell housing for the 302 if it seperates from the tranny or the whole tranny if it dont.

I found a 390 for 200 bucks or the guy wants me to put the 302(missing intake) in trade for it. He wants the 302 for a mustang. The 390 runs he said someone stole trany out of his truck. Whats the story with the 360/390 burning oil all the time from what I heard.

Hahaha that's gotta suck. Come out in the morning and you can't drive to work because someone stole your transmission :rofl2:

I would go back to the FE, big blocks are just cooler, especially if you don't care about the mileage. Not that a 302 is gonna get very good mileage in a heavy truck anyway. To put the 302 in your gonna have to move the perches/towers, find a new bellhousing for the 3 speed, radiator, and have a smallblock when done. If you stay with the FE there are still lots of perf parts available, and lots of wisdom too if you look. Plus nothing sounds like a big ol FE when you light it off! Put an RV cam in it and it'll pull stumps!

They dont burn oil all the time just when the valve seats are bad or the rings are bad. Id personally swap the guy straight across but make sure the 390 will turn over by hand and aint seized up or missin parts.
