I've used ether on the truck tires, the tractor tires, and even the lawn mower tires. It doesn't take much, but it DOES help if you have a CLIP-ON AIR CHUCK that stays on during the ummmm fireworks? hehe... I have also used Carl's trick on the tractor tires.
For those less confident with ether there is a safer way. Seat one side of the tire on the rim atop a cinder block or other sturdy support by pushing the tire down onto it. Use a 2" ratchet strap around the circumference of the tire. just tighten it down and the bead spreads.
