step bed or not

i have a 1981 f 150 4x4 with a 6 foot fleet side bed i have a step side bed to fit it should i change them

Do you also have the correct rear bumper and gas filler neck(s) for the narrower bed? Would add some expense if not.

A 91 flareside bed has different shaped wheel wells than an 81 front clip. It will look all goof trooped unless you swap the front and clip too.

I say do it.

I think everybody is getting a little confused by the terms here...

Any ford with a "step side" bed is properly referred to as a Flareside. the non flareside is a styleside.

Chevy = step side/fleetside

GMC = fenderside/wideside for the old ones, step side/fleetside for later ones

dodge = i have no idea.

I think the flareside/stepside/whatever beds are awesome and look good on any truck.
