smoking like a fog machine

have a 79 ford 3/4 ton 351m mud truck took valve covers off and valve guide seals move with the valve on all cylinders is that normal ran the thing for months and just started smoking crazy help???

The regular umbrella style seals do yes. I know the Perfect Circle ones don't. They push on over the guide and stay in place.
