Ok, Burt's shifter boot sound deadening do-bob is missing and I was wondering what some of ya'll have used to pack inside the shifter boot. My buddy has used a seat cushion before but it caught on fire (boy that was a hoot)he also had a turbo too though) Just wanted some thoughts on this.

I've seen guys use black dress socks.

Ooooooh...nevermind then.

I was contemplating looking for one in a JY...
but really, how many people actually put those things back?
The turbo's heat messed with the original idea is all.

Make your own and it'll beat an old one from the junkyard, IMO.
It's all the same stuff, poly-urethane foam "rubber".
An old seat cushion is what I used on my '91 Bronco +ZF.

It's more of a weather-boot than a sound deadener, I figure?
Seems like the foam rubber will transfer sound as much as deaden it?
What do you think? If you've tried one both ways, you tell me. :)
