Pulling Lower intake

I already know the basics of pullign the intake as I've done it before.....now I've got an oil leak somewhere in front and wanna get it fixed while the truck is down while I hunt for a trans....So, is there any way to get the coolant out of the lower intake prior to pulling it off so as not to contaminate the oil? Funds are tight and getting tighter so I'd like to save this 2k miles oil. Thanks.

Truck is down... lol.
Uhm honestly not that I'm aware of.
Maybe drain the oil before you start, then you might need an extra quart??? If you spill any that is.

Pull the block drains on the sides of the block. Might have to poke around in the hole after you remove the plug to clear any sediment out of the way...

I would do as Fellro suggests and drain the block.
