Could somebody please post the pinpoint tests for diagnosing a P0455 code in a 1998 Escort sedan (2.0 SOHC engine, auto trans).

I believe it's an EVAP system code.

Thanks!

OK

Smokey suggested checking the filler tube for rust.

Any other suggestions of common issues to look for?

*Filler tube is making sense, though- as I'm thinking about it, it kind of seems that it's been less consistent in when it'll shut off the pump when I fill the tank since around when the light came on. Haven't had the car long enough to really be certain, but it just seems less consistent.

evap issues can be a pain. the systems need to be put under a pressure to see where the leak is. if i remember correctly the 455 code is a gross leak, usually a line loose or off, or even a gas cap.

Well...finding the problem didn't turn out to be as hard as was afraid it might be:

What would you call the piece that's cracked? Guessing this'll be either a dealer/junkyard part? Part of the filler neck or a separate piece?

*Also, any guesses how it broke? I'm thinking I must have hit something when I replaced the springs, but I guess I could have cracked it when filling the tank, too.

Thanks!
