Parking Brake Cables

I installed new brakes/cables on my 1973 D60. I am having problems with the cable coming off in the drum. I tightened the cables and it still comes off when I release the brake. How can I keep them on?

Are the necessary springs installed ?

Is the lever inside the brake installeed correctly ?

Is the spring suppose to completely surround the cable from the entrance in the back to the end of the cable. Mine covers about half of it.

The Spring around the cable inside the brake drum should be compressed against the keeper when the proper cable is installed.

Theree are so many e-brake cables available that it is common for people to end up with the wrong one for their application
