Oil Pressure

I am having an issue with oil pressure. It's a 460 and at start up it runs about 60lbs no matter the rpm. After reaching operating tempature it drops to about 25 lbs. at 2000 rpm and 12.5lbs at idle. I was thinking it was oil pump but i don't want to just start throwing parts at it. Any thought?

Thanks

Remember, cold oil is "thick". When hot, the oil thins out, and the viscosity is different. High mileage engines will have more clearance in the bearings causing a loss of pressure when hot. Because the pressure is 60 cold would tell me that the pump is capable of developing that pressure. My guess is that you have a lot of miles on the motor.

I am running a 20w 50 oil with Lucas oil stabilizer. It has developed a tap in the top end that comes and goes. So you are thinking rebuild? I was hoping for something cheaper.
