newbie question

I've worked on 302, 351/400 and that's it. I have no knowledge of the 360/390. Only that I have a 360/390 in a parts truck. I've been told a few different things by a few different people. So I thought I would as where I would get the right answer hands down. I had a mishap with my 351 and now it has to be pulled. I want to put the 360/390 in my truck. Will the 360/390 bolt up to my trans or do I have to swap that as well. I've been told by one person it will bolt up and another that it won't because of the starter. I have one of those 360/390 where the valve cover says 360 but the PO says he blew the 360 in 78 and had it replaced with a 390.

oh ya, its a automatic trans. c6 I think.

No, motor mounts and trans pattern is different between the 351 and 360/390. Youll have to change motormounts and trans bellhousing.
