may buy this motor and swap EFI on

Pre -81: 28 oz flywheel/ balancer
81-up : 50 oz. flywheel/ balancer

Watch the "XXX" blocks if you get a used one. Prone to crack in the lifter galley if it has been used and abused.

We often call them the "porno block: guaranteed to split in half if you lay into it hard".....smilietease

since this being a 69 block is it compatible with my flywheel and etc.?

You have a 5.8 now which uses a 28oz flywheel/flexplate so yes that is what this 5.0 should need.. unless it has been zero balanced... something else to find out. What is the "etc" you're asking about?

I just looked closer at the info provided on this motor and I don't think it's a good fit here. He says the block and heads are from a '69 Torino and have been milled 0.030". Those heads would have had 58cc chambers before they were milled so they will have something like 52cc chambers now. With flatop pistons that puts compression ratio WAY over 11:1.. which simply won't run on regular pump gas and isn't suitable for a heavy vehicle. At this point the pistons are unknown but it was built for a mustang so it's not likely he used dished pistons.

that motor looks like a regular lo-po 5.0L not an HO. I would check that closer, the computer and upper intake which you need for EFI are different if it is a plain 5 liter. if it is a lo-po motor, the pistons, cam and heads are different than the HO motor.an easy way to tell will be the fuel injector color. if they are orange topped injectors you have a HO if they are gray, it is not.

Orange just indicates 19 lb injectors...didn't know that certain 5-0's came with a smaller poundage injector....Also, Jay Allen really knows his stuff and while his cams may be expensive you've got to remember that is for a custom grind and he takes into consideration what you want to do with the truck as well what's been done to the truck.

I thought your truck has a windsor in it? Why are you wanting to swap a 302 in?

302 parts are very plentiful around here as in intakes and etc. and yes i do know most stuff interchanges. plus the truck came originally with a 302. and i can be like yeah its got a 302 like it came with and people probably wont catch the LIKE and ill smokem. lol.

if i had that engine.. i would rebuild it then i would look for some Gt40 lighting heads and a decent cam and headers and that is all.. the stock intake it not that restrictive. and a custome tune :)

thats just me ;)

i wanted to do that with my old F250 but the front suspension was shot soo it would of been allot more expensive

No doubt about that...thanks to the mustang the 302 market is substantial.......Yea, but Jurgen he's like me. he wants to find a good core to work with...rebuild it how he likes it over time and do an engine swap so there is almost 0 downtime.

i would but its a daily driver and i dont have the time to pull the motor and rebuild it without having my truck. and i dont have the space. thats why i was looking at buying another motor and building it on a engine stand. i may just start looking at wrecked trucks with 351W's that need rebuilds. probably would be better. i would like to stick with a 351W for the torque but i will go with what i can get.
