Idle issues

Thia has been driving me nuts! Two nights ago i drove my truck let it sit was ru ning and idling fine before i shut it off i get back in about 4 hours later fire it up and it just wants to die it was fine when i was driving it but at every stop sign it would die. Let it sit over night the next morning its fine fine all day fine today up until after school. Starts idling rough again barely idling always wanting to die. What could this be? Its a 1977 ford f100 ranger 351M new plugs and wires 600cfm holley carb weiend intake other then that pretty stock oh amd its 4 wd

sticky choke plate? have you taken the air filter off and watched the action of the choke plate, linkages all fine, no binding. Have you checked fuel delivery?

I would be also looking into the possibilities of partly clogged fuel filter,fuel pump testing,bad vaccum hoses or leaks, sticking float in the carb will also give these symptoms along with EGR valve sticking if you have one.
