Has anyone had any exp.. with 1/8 mile drag racing with a 73-79.Question is do they get traction as is or do i need slapper bars or 4 link set up.

4 link is the best way to go.... if i could remember who it was on FTeww. had a 78 i think with a 460 and it is setup for drag, w/4 link rear... he's fast...

Dunno what kinda power you're putting to the ground, but I'd throw ladder bars on there and call it good. FWIW...the guys name Chris is looking for is wmvdub...or something along those lines. Real good guy though.

Thanks..im having to guess on horse power but somewhere in the 420-490hp range

Personally, unless it's a dedicated strip rig, I wouldn't worry about a 4-link. But then again...I don't know much about racing.

i just want to be different i,ve never saw a 73-79 ford truck at any of the tracks here. but im getting closer to having my own though.i had an 89 lx mustang but everybody and their brother has one of those now.

the Gen1 L guys use Slapper bars...and alot of them are kickin some serious power numbers out.

i,ll try anything except chop the frame or tub the bed like to keep a stock sleeper look.

i have a 64 f-1 with a 450 h.p or so 460. i took to leafs out of my spring pack made a set of slapper bars and set them up so the rubber bumper is always in contact with the spring almost to the front of the spring close to the eye.i have to work to get the tires to spin. i dont have any pics i cant figure out how to post pics.
