Heater Control Panel Restore

I was wondering if anyone has had any luck cleaning up a heater control panel. I found one in a junkyard that has almost perfect lettering but the black is stained and won't clean up. I wet sanded it with some 1500grit and got most of it out with minimal scratches and just wondering if I should paint it, buff it with something, or what?

Painting will probably be your only option sans buying a repop or finding a NOS part. I painted the whole dash bezel and it came out fine.

Well I painted it... Wasn't much I could do around the high off part but the rest turned out ok...
