Gas tank/sending unit questions

So I am replacing my rear tank on the truck, bunch of gunk built up in it and rust shavings I am assuming, whenever I use it, it sucks up crap into the filter/carb.

No shop around here will clean it, and the couple that will charge an arm and a leg.

So anyhow, the sending unit is great and good in the tank as it is right now. The gauge is very accurate no problems, no sending problems, my question is, should I just change the sock/filter/gaskets or change out the entire sending unit? Better safe than sorry?

If you have one, it wouldn't be a bad thing, as they do tend to fail.

Yeah I am moving soon so I am trying to save money, but I guess it's smarter to do it all at once then have to do it again.
