Gas Gauge

The gas ggauge never worked in my truck and i needed a new fuel tank so i pulled the tank today and the wires connected to the fuel sending unit were cut does anyone have a wiring diagram or can tell me how the gauge works? how hard would it be to just put a aftermarket gauge in?

wouldn't affect the wiring for the fuel tank sending unit, sucks that someone cut the wires, why?? use a 9 volt battery to see if the wires are damaged further down the line to the gauge in the cab.

im not sure why they cut them the guy that did passed away so i guess i will never know. He cut them about 6 inches from the plug for the fuel sending unit!!

I agree why..lol.have a similar situation as well,gotta rewire from the dash back to the tanks as well.got two new pigtails from LMC the other day for the tanks.& thanks Dennis on the diagrams,doesnt look to complicated to do.just hope the cluster guage works or ill put in aftermarkets in as well.
