Factory ball joints...

F150

easy
On a 2000 Mercury Marquis. My dad wants to drill a hole through them and put a zert fitting in so it can be greased. 100k plus miles. Does this sound feaseable to anyone? Or worth the effort? I say pay the $$ and replace them.

I guess my feeling is that if they're sealed joints and have not failed, don't touch 'em...and if they have failed (worn out), a grease fitting ain't gonna solve anything.

Seems like replacement joints for my '97 Ranger (2wd) were less than $50/side...and since I can't see how you'd drill 'em without removing them, it seems like a small cost to just put in the greasable kind. When the originals wear out.

Motorcraft replacements include grease zerks... Drive them until they are worn, and replace with Motorcraft, the good stuff.

If not, go with MOOG. My truck does not see after market parts, but thats just the way I like it. :D
